Show you mean business

13 judges surround the massive dance floor. Notepads in hand, they look strict. Mean.
Heat after heat, 20 couples on, 20 couples off. Tanned, made-up, hair slicked back.
The men in black tail suits, numbers on their backs; the women elegant in sparkly dresses.
The judges are in black-tie, with the ladies’ gowns rivaling those of the competitors on the floor.
You walk on. The current champion is setting up right next to you.
It is crowded. You need to create your own space among the constantly moving competition.
It is tough to stick to your routine. There is always someone crossing your path.
Couples bunch up in the corner, and now these two block you by dragging out a line.
To make it into the next round you need as many marks as possible from each judge.
Today it is four rounds to the semi-final.
Only in the semi, when the competition has thinned, when there is space, you can show what you can really do.
And if you do, if you make it into the final, ‘you are in the money’.

What is the first message you need to convey to ‘your judges’?

How do you do it?
