Sport has long been a strong metaphor for business and, for many years, organisations have looked to sport and sport psychology to enhance performance. I was fascinated hearing the story of hospitals reducing death rates significantly after they benchmarked their ER with Formula 1 pitstop processes.
In my recent post, people shared business learnings from falconry to DJ-ing to weightlifting. This inspired me and my two ‘Partners in Crime’ – Dan Baxter and Chindu Sreedharan, former British National Ballroom Champions – to explore the link between what we do day-to-day and ballroom dancing.
This series of posts is meant to increase the sparkle and reduce the sweat of personal development. We argue Ballroom Dancing – a combination of sport and art – is akin to competing in the business world more than ‘pure’ sports, where winning is reduced to a number or goal ratio.
• Markets are crowded.
• Products are not easily comparable.
